Va.; Mother- Mary Barclay of ochland Co. Va. Pat. Grandfather- William Moon of Albemarle Co. Va.; Pat. Grandmother- Charlotte Diggs of Nelson Co. Va. No information on Mat. Grandparents. Married- Ann Staples Martin, daughter of John S. Martin and Martha Ann Staples Children- 1- Thomas A. Moon; 2- Jacob Luther Moon, Jr.; 3- John Martin Moon; 4- Celestine Moon; 5- Martha (one sources says Mary Elizabeth or Pattie) Moon Lewis, who married Hunter Lewis. VMI Record: Entered VMI- Aug. 9, 1860; Dismissed March 26, 1861 for being AWOL for 30 days. Civil War Record: Served as Drill Master for Corps of VMI Cadets before his dismissal; Enlisted at an unknown date as Private in Co. D 43rd Battalion Virginia Cavalry (Col. J.S. Mosby's Regiment); Signed parole at Charlottesville, May 24, 1865. Careers- Merchant; Banker. Died- July 17, 1910.

The database currently includes the names of all enrolled students (both graduates and non-graduates) from VMI's opening in 1839 through the World War II era.
