|Biography & Genealogy:||Tyler John Fulkerson, Class of 1859 (graduated 9 out of 29): Born- September 12, 1838. Matriculated from Rose Hill, Va. At VMI 4 years. Military Record: Unofficial source says enlisted as Private, 14th Missouri (US) in 1861. Seems to have been in charge of stores at seige of Lexington, Mo, September 1861 where he was captured. Appointed Major and Aide-de-camp on staff of Brig Gen A.F. Schoepf December 1861. Appointed LtCol, 1st Regiment Missouri State Militia May 13, 1862. Commanded gunboat John Warner on Missouri River August-September 1862. To Col March 18, 1863. Spent most of service as post commander or provost marshal at Pilot Knob, DeSoto, Victoria, or Hannibal, Missouri. On military commission in St Louis, Missouri 1863-64. Relieved from duty at Hannibal, Missouri January 5, 1865. "Dishonorable dismissed" from service January 13, 1865 for "fradulant [sic] conduct in connection with transportation passes, trading in substitutes and sanctioning the same in employees [sic] under his control." Post War Career: Teacher; lawyer. Died- March 2, 1911 in St Joseph, Missouri.|
