| Biography & Genealogy: | George Henry Toole, Class of 1859: Born- Sept. 15, 1837 on Church Hill Plantation, North Garden Albemarle Co. Va. Father- John Toole; Mother- Mary Jane Suddarth. Pat. Grandfather- Michael Toole born in Dublin, Ireland; Pat. Grandmother- Jane Christian born on Ilse of Wight, England. Mat. Grandfather- Richard Pleasants Suddarth of Albemarle Co. Va.; Mat. Grandmother- Martha Morris of Albemarle Co. Va. Never married, no children. He had a sister named Jenny who married John H. Hobgood of Waynesboro, Va. but we have no record of whether there were other siblings. Entered VMI- July 26, 1855; Became ill with a severe cold in his lungs while traveling with the Corps of Cadets along the James River in the Fall of 1855 and was sent home on sick furlough but never returned. Died- May 21, 1856 at his family home of Church Hill of tubercular consumption. |
