Biography & Genealogy: | Alexander Boys Cochran, Class of 1859: Born- 10 May 1836. Matriculated from Staunton, VA. At VMI for 10 days. At UVA 1856-1860. Military Record: Elected 2nd Lt on 15 March 1862, Capt J.M. Carrington's 1864-MS Company Virginia Light Artillery (Charlottesville Artillery). May through June 1863 roll shows him as a 1st Lt. Often absent sick. Under arrest late 1863 through early 1864. Retired to Invalid Corps 18 February 1865 and assigned to duty with Virginia Res. Commonwealth's attorney in Staunton. Post War Career: Lawyer, Public Official. Represented Augusta County in the Virginia House of Delegates 1869-1871 and in the Virginia Senate 1871-1877. Died- 2 July 1877 in Staunton, VA. |
