Grandfather- George Campbell Brown; Pat. Grandmother- Susan Rebecca Polk Mat. Grandfather- Albert Roberts of Nashville, Tenn; Mat. Grandmother- Mary Scott of Toronto, Canada Married- Mary Elizabeth Sandford, daughter of Samuel Richard Sandford on Aug. 13, 1921 No children Entered VMI- Sept. 6, 1913; Graduated Jun 15, 1917 standing 26 in a class of 54 and received his BS in Civil Engineering. Military Service- Captain in the USMC serving in France in 1918 during WWI; retired from the Marine Corps in 1939, but returned to active duty with the Tennessee National Guard in 1941 seeing combat duty in Burma during WWII. Careers- Instructor at the Marine Corps Schools at Quantico; Director of the Tennessee historical marker division; Executive Director of the Tennessee Civil War Centennial Commission; he was also a horseman who was the official starter for the Iriquois Steeplechase in Nashville for many years. Died- Nov. 3, 1988 in Murfreesboro, Tenn.|
