Capt, Tx Rangers (Tx State Guard) 1859-61. Enlisted July 13, 1861 at Waco, Tx for war in Company E, 4th Tx. Elected 2nd Lt, July 30, 1861. Aide-de-camp to Brig Gen (later Gen) J.B. Hood spring 1862. Rendered "most efficient services" May 7, 1862 at Eltham's Landing. Appointed Ordnance Officer, Hood's Tx Brig July 15, 1862. Ordnance Officer on Hood's staff at brigade, division, and corps level in Army of Northern Virginia and army of Tennessee. To Capt March 26, 1864 (date of rank February 19). Ordnance Officer for Maj Gen B.F. Cheatham and Lt Gens S.D. Lee, D.H. Hill, and A.P. Stewart 1864-65. Surrendered April 26, 1865 at Greensboro, North Carolina. Paroled there May 1, 1865. Post War Career: Law enforcement; civil engineer; superintendent of coal mines; real estate. Died- 1896 in Chattanooga, Tn. |
