Paris's Company Virginia Light Artillery (Staunton Hill Artillery; Capt C. Bruce's Company Virginia Light Artillery). To Capt May 23, 1862. At unknown date in early 1865 became Acting Chief of Artillery, Maj Gen R. Hoke's division. Paroled at Headquarters, VI (US) Corps April 22, 1865. Post War Career: Lawyer; public official; editor; merchant. Treasurer, Charlotte County. To San Bernardino, California where he died. Died- November 9, 1896 in San Bernardino. Buried in Pioneer Cemetery with his wife Kate Smith who died in July 1890. |
