Married: On Aug. 10, 1889 to Kate Smith, daughter of Col. Larkin Smith. Military Record: Entered service September 23, 1861 for 1 year in Charlotte County as 1st Lieutenant in what became Capt A.B. Paris's Company Virginia Light Artillery (Staunton Hill Artillery; Capt C. Bruce's Company Virginia Light Artillery). To Capt May 23, 1862. At unknown date in early 1865 became Acting Chief of Artillery, Maj Gen R. Hoke's division. Paroled at Headquarters, VI (US) Corps April 22, 1865. Post War Career: Lawyer; public official; editor; merchant. Treasurer, Charlotte County. To San Bernardino, California where he died. Died- November 9, 1896 in San Bernardino. Buried in Pioneer Cemetery with his wife Kate Smith who died in July 1890. |
