Military Record: Entered service and appointed 2nd Lt, Company A, 1st Virginia Battalion May 1, 1861. "Behaved with great gallantry at First Kernstown." To 1st Lt, Company B May 20, 1862 (date of rank April 20; one record says April 23). To Captain December 8, 1862 (date of rank October 11). (Technically in state, rather than CS service until June 30, 1862.) Paroled at Appomattox. Post War Career: Farmer. Married Nannie Branch Giles 1874. Died- January 17, 1923 in Louisa County. Buried St John's Chapel there.|
