Military Record: Appointed 2nd Lieut. of the Provisional Army of Virginia May 3, 1861; At an unknown date joined staff of Brig. Gen. Phillip St. George Cocke; Later on staff of Brig. Gen. P. G. T. Beauregard and served with him most of the rest of the War as Acting Assistant Adjutant General and Assistant Inspector General; Appointed Captain of the Provisional Army of the Confederate States May 12, 1862; On staff of Gen. B. Bragg July- Oct, 1862 when he rejoined Beauregard; promoted to Lt. Col. Jun 14, 1864; In hospital in Danville, Oct. 1864; Paroled April 26, 1865. Careers: Insurance broker.
