Military Record: Enlisted at Richmond April 21, 1861 for 1 year as Sergeant, Company D, 1st Virginia. To 2nd Lt May 13, 1861. Absent sick March 1862. Elected Capt April 26, 1862. Wounded in action at Seven Pines. Wounded in Action in Pickette's Charge at Gettysburg in which he briefly commanded regiment between time that Col L.BB. Williams was Mortally Wounded in Action and his own wounding. Absent July-August 1863. Appointed Maj August 26, 1863 (date of rank July 3). On leave February 1864. Applied for colonelcy of a Negro regiment February 1865. Captured April 6, 1865 at Sayler's Creek. Held at Johnson's Island, Ohio. Released on oath May 30, 1865. Post War Career: Druggist; street railroadman. Died- July 12, 1883 and buried in Hollywood Cemetery, Richmond, Va.|
