Hampton, VA. Paternal grandparents: Horatio P. Mason and Samuella Boxley of Orange Co., VA; Maternal grandparents: Thomas Tabb & Virginia Jones of Hampton, VA. Attended Episcopal High School, Alexandria, VA. VMI Record: Enrolled Sept. 1917, graduated June 1921. Starter (End) on VMI's undefeated 1920 football team, "Flying Squadron;" member VMI Football Hall of Fame. Marriage: To Venita Fowler. Children: 1. Mary 2. Lucy 3. Eliza. Career: After VMI did graduate work at Princeton University; played 2 professional football seasons in early NFL (for Minneapolis and Milwaukee, 1922 & 1925 respectively). Construction contractor; President, Silas Mason Co., Inc. (NY); Vice-President, Mason Hanger, Inc. Following his retirement in 1946 he returned to Virginia and raised race horses. Died: March 7, 1971, Richmond, VA; buried Hollywood Cemetery, Richmond.|
