Paternal grandparents- Daniel Kennedy and Martha McCord of Green Co., TN. Maternal grandparents- Charles Willoughby (b. Bristol, TN) and Emma Cook (b. Jonesville, VA). Education: Graduated Knoxville, TN High School June 1917. Matriculated at VMI Sept. 3, 1917 and resigned June 1919, did not graduate; subsequently graduated from Georgia Tech with B.S. in Textile Engineering. Career: Worked in manufacturing industries, including Southern Bleachery and Print Works, Taylors, SC; Pepperell Mfg. Co., Opelika AL. Marriage: to Francina C. Cook (b. 1904 d. 2000); Children 1- William Thomas, 2- Margaret. Death: June 6, 1955, Opelika, Alabama.

About the Database

The database currently includes the names of all enrolled students (both graduates and non-graduates) from VMI's opening in 1839 through the World War II era. In addition, you will find biographical and genealogical information, including a summary of military service during the Civil War, for many individuals who attended in the 19th century.
