|Biography & Genealogy:||C.L. Hardeman, Class of 1860: Born- ? Matriculated from Martinsville, Ms. At VMI 2 years, 1 1/2 months (entered as a sophomore). Expelled from VMI (after trial by classmates) for theft. Military Record: Identification speculative, but may have been the man who served as Private, with "[Capt T.] Henderson's Scouts" (a Ms Unit, often called "Forrest's Scouts" for Lt. Gen N.B. Forrest). Only records show that man present for duty fall 1863, surrendered at Citronelle, Al May 4, 1865, and paroled May 10, 1865 at Gainesville, [Al?]. Post War Career: His residence was "Yallabushy" [sic] County, Ms. Levee Inspector. Died- The former VMI cadet was shot to death at Natchez, Ms January 7, 1906.|
