Military Record: Enlisted May 10 (or June 1), 1863 in Chapel Hill, Tennessee for 3 years as a Private with Company C, 9th Alabama Cavalry (7th Alabama Cavalry; Colonel J.C. Malone's Regiment of Alabama Cavalry); promoted to 3d Lieutenant, Company I; sick in hospital during the Fall of 1863; disabled by wound (ankle) in June of 1864 near Big Shanty (now Kennesaw), Georgia. Post War Career: Farmer. Died- 1899. (Name "John C. Floyd" until legally changed in 1868; wartime records filed under that name.)|
