Army, June 1917-May 1921; served in France and in the Far East; 1922-1927, MAJ Air Corps Reserves; World War II-officer in Army Air Forces, rising to rank of Colonel in; promoted to Brigadier General Reserves USAF in September 1949; retired from Reserves September 1953. Career: Stockbroker and businessman; CEO & Board Chairman, Cargill INC., Minneapolis, MN; retired 1962; President Morrison-Woodworth, an import-export firm. Marriage: Grace Heffelfinger (m. 1936; d. 1994). Death: March 5, 1978, age 81; buried Arlington National Cemetery.
