Military Record: Entered service at Warsaw, Va., on June 4, 1861, as a 1st Lt., Co. E, 40th Va. Appointed Adjutant Oct. 4, 1861. Wounded in Action in Fredericksburg, Va. Acting brigade ordnance officer Dec. 1862. Division ordnance officer summer of 1863. Assigned Aug. 12, 1863, to temporary duty as Assistant Chief of Ordnance, III Corps, ANVa. Acting Assitant Adjutant General, Maj. Gen. H. Heth's division, June to Aug. 1864. Capt, Assitant Adjutant General, Heth's division, Aug. 1864. In hospital July-August, Nov.-Dec. 1864 (diarrhea). Post War Career: County Clerk, Farmer. Episcopal. Married Louisa Beadles, 1865. Died- Aug. 6, 1896, in Richmond Co., Va. |
