Biography & Genealogy: | Norval Cornelius Wilson, Class of 1858 (graduated 5th out of 19): Born- October 2, 1837. Matriculated from Columbus, Tx. To Texas with parents in 1846. At VMI 4 years. Military Record: Unofficial source says served with Tx state forces early 1861. No official record of such service found. Enlisted January 13, 1862 at Bernard, Tx for 1 year as Pvt, Company H, 13th Tx. On recruiting duty March 1862. Transferred to 12th Tx Cavalry Battalion mid-1862. In mid-1863 battalion became part of 35th (Col R.R. Brown's) Tx Cavalry. At unknown date became 2nd Lt, Company F, 35th Tx Cavalry. Absent sick fall 1863. On leave June 1864. To brigade Acting Assistant and Inspector General September 1864. Sick at Camp Ford, Tx October 1864. Later Acting Assistant Adjutant General and Inspector General of brigade. Paroled July 25, 1865, Columbia, Texas. Post War Career: Cotton planter. Died- June 18, 1915. |
