Biography & Genealogy:	Nugent Malcolm Read, Class of 1858: Born- September 12, 1836. Matriculated from Bonsacks Depot. At VMI 1 year. Left VMI because of deficiencies in math and conduct. Married Mary Bacon White 1860. Military Records: Enlisted at Salem May 13, 1861 for 1 year as 1st Sergeant, Company I, 28th Va. On recruiting service August 1861. Elected 2nd Lt, Company E October 1, 1861. On sick furlough early 1862. Dropped at re-organization April 28, 1862. Seems to have taken no further part in war. Post War Career: partially disabled and living in Roanoke July 1910. Farmer. Died: ?
