Biography & Genealogy:	John Cargill Pegram, Class of 1858: Born- October 3, 1838. Matriculated from Norfolk, Va. At VMI 3 years. Military Record: Served as Drill Master with 12th North Carolina (originally 2nd North Carolina). Appointed 1st Lt and Adjutant of regiment May 11, 1861. Appointed 1st Lt and Adjutant 2nd North Carolina Cavalry (19th North Carolina State Troops) cJune 6, 1862. Appointed Capt and Assistant Adjutant General on staff of Brig Gen M.W. Ransom September 23, 1863 (date of rank July 1). Mortally Wounded in Action near Petersburg 10 A.M., June 16, 1864. Died- 3 P.M., June 16, 1864.
