Grandfather- John Orgain, Sr.; Pat. Grandmother- Mary Jackson Birchett. Mat. Grandfather- George Warren Craig; Mat. Grandmother- Ann Chambers. Married- Rebecca Orgain, daughter of Dr. John Orgain of Bruswick Co. Va. in 1861. (probably a cousin). Children- 1- E. F. Orgain; 2- George Craig Orgain; 3- Rebecca Orgain, who married Walter Blanton; 4- Henrietta Orgain, who married Richard Mann; 5- Jennie Orgain, who married McFarland Neblett; 6- Sue Orgain, who married Charles Bridges; 7- Josephine Orgain, who married Richard Harrison. Infantry; On furlough in summer of 1861; Co. B disbanded Sept. 1861; Appointed Captain and Assistant Quartermaster Oct. 14, 1862; On Quartermaster duty in Danville and Richmond 1862-65; Assigned as Assistant Quartermaster in artillery brigade commanded by Col. Stuart Crutchfield March 21, 1865. Paroled near Burkeville April 22, 1865. Careers: Lawyer and County Judge; was taught law by his uncle Judge E. R. Chambers; elected Commonwealth Attorney of Lunenberg Co. Va. at the age of 24; re-elected Commonwealth Attorney after returning from the war and held the posisition for 36 years. Was Judge of Lunenberg Co. for 13 years. Died- June 28, 1906. |
