Feb 1866 in Pennsylvania; in 1913 was President of Morgan Lumber & Manufacturing Co., Charleston, WV). Mother- Sarah (b. 1869 in PA). VMI Record: Matriculated Fall 1913; attended for one academic year. Other information: During World War I (1918) was 2nd Lieut., U. S. Army Air Service, Bureau of Aircraft Production; details of military service not known. The 1930 Census for Charleston, WVA shows Harold B. Shadle (age 36, head of household); wife Ethel, age 28; children Gene (Jean?, daughter, age 5) and son James (age 2 5/12). His occupation is listed as vice president of lumber co. In 1935 he took a position as general manager of the Mt. Vernon Dairy in Charleston, WVA. Draft registration records for World War II (dated April 1942) show his age as 48; address Beechhill, Mason Co., WVA and his employer as H. E. Shadle, Mt. Vernon Farm, Beech Hill.

The database currently includes the names of all enrolled students (both graduates and non-graduates) from VMI's opening in 1839 through the World War II era.
