|Biography & Genealogy:||Robert Alexander Fudge, Class of 1858: Born- May 19, 1835. Matriculated from Covington, VA. At VMI 1 year (dismissed for neglect of duty and studies). Military Record: in Missouri in 1861; served there with Major General S. Price (probably in same Missouri State Guard unit); unofficial source says he was Wounded in Action; captured at Lexington, Missouri in September, 1861; exchanged or paroled to Virginia; had taken oath in March of 1862 and was discharged after his return; when his oath was not recognized he enlisted March 10, 1863 at Covington as a Private, Captain J.C. Carpenter's Company of Virginia Light Artillery (Allegheny Artillery) for 3 years; absent due to illness from May to June, 1863; transferred on Nov. 26, 1863 to Captain C.H. Woodson's Company of Missouri Cavalry (Company A, 1st Missouri Cavalry), a company of Missouri men in Virginia often attached to various regiments. Post War Career: Farmer. Died- May 2, 1901 in Covington, VA; buried in Covington at the Cedar Hill Cemetery.|
