Biography & Genealogy:	James Breckinridge, Class of 1858: Born- Sep. 1, 1837. Matriculated from Fincastle, Va. At VMI 4 years; graduated on July 5, 1858. Military Record: Unofficial source says he was Aide-de-Camp to Col P. St G. Cocke. Enlisted Oct. 7, 1861, for 1 year in Co. C, 2nd Va. Cavalry. Unofficial source says he was there to Sgt., then Lt., Spring 1862. Elected Capt. on April 24, 1862, at re-organization. Praised for conduct at Kelly's Ford, March 1863. In hospital in Feb. 1865. Killed in Action at Five Forks. Brother of Breckinridge, C. '60, Breckinridge, PG '57, and Breckinridge, GW '67. Pre-War Career: At UVA 1859-1860. Died- April 1, 1865, Killed in action at Five Forks.
