|Biography & Genealogy:||Benjamin Watkins Williams, Class of 1857: Born- c1835. Matriculated from Danville, Va. At VMI 1 year, 9 months. Military Record: Identification not certain, but may have been the "Benjamin W. Williams" who entered service at Wytheville may 29, 1861 for 1 year as 1st Lt, Company A, 45th Va. Wounded in action August 26, 1861 at Cross Lanes. Tendered resignation late 1861, but it was not accepted. On March 22, 1862 signed petition that company be turned into artillery. No further record found. Post War Career: Lawyer. Died- 1862 in Tazewell County of typhoid fever.|
