Biography & Genealogy:	Benjamin Franklin Turner, Class of 1857: Born- April 1835. Matriculated from Shrewsbury, (WV). At VMI 1 year, 2 months. Military Record: Enlisted May 8, 1861 at Kanawha Court House (WV) for 1 year as Pvt, Company H, 22nd Va. Elected Sgt June 5, 1861. Sick January 1862. Transferred May 25, 1862 as Pvt to Company I, 8th Virginia Cavalry in which he enlisted for 3 years. Captured at Maiden Bluff (WV) July 14, 1862 and held at Johnson's Island, Ohio. Exchanged November 1862 at Vicksburg, Ms. Detached on recruiting service in Logan County (WV) spring-summer 1863. No further record found. Post War Career: Doctor. Died- c1866 in Texas (Lavaca County).
