Children- [Note, it said in his obituary that all of his daughters were married. However, there was nothing in his file to indicate whether the names listed were his daughters' married names or middle names. I am listing them here as they are written in the file] 1- Claudia Willingbly; 2- William Lee Sharp; 3- Katherine Layman Patton; 4- Virginia Hardy; 5- Nancy Forney Graves; 6- Henry Talbot Sharp; 7- Florence Southall Sharp; 8- Frances Stedman Sharp. Entered VMI- Aug. 20, 1853; Resigned July 10, 1855, deficient in Math & conduct. Farmer before and after the Civil War. Civil War Service- Private in Co. G of 6th Va. Infantry ca. 1861; Private in Co. A of 13th Battalion Va. Light Artillery under Capt. George G. Otey ca. 1862; Detailed as courier for Brig. Gen. E.P. Alexander in 1864 and remained in this position until the end of the War. Post War Career- [in addition to farming] Worked for Seaboard Airline Railroad (now CSX) as bookkeeper, then as secretary and treasurer. Died- March 31, 1921in New Hanover Co. NC.|
