Children- 1- Olga McKinney; 2- Lydia McKinney; 3- Maria Julia McKinney. VMI Record: Entered VMI- Sept. 3, 1910; Left after three years; did not graduate. Military Record: Served on Mexican Border July 1916- Jan. 1917 as Sergeant in Company D. 1st Va. Infantry (National Guard); Elected 2nd Lieut. April 14, 1917; Mustered into Federal Service July 25, 1917; Promoted to 1st Lieut. Aug. 4, 1917; Ordered to Camp McClellan, Ala. Sept. 25, 1917; Assigned to Co. H, 116th Infantry, 29th Division; Sailed to France June 10, 1918. Served in the following engagements: Centre Sector, Haute, Alsace, July 25- Sept. 23, 1918; Argonne Meuse, Oct. 8-29, 1918. Transferred as Adjutant, 1st Battalion, 116th Infantry (under Major G.M. Alexander) Oct. 4, 1918. Served in this capacity until discharged. Arrived in U.S. May 21, 1919. Discharged eight days later. Careers: Worked for M.L. Bowen Company in New York right after the War; in 1927 worked as Cashier at Farmer's Bank & Loan Corp. in Lynchburg, Va. Died- June 8, 1938.|
