Also attended the University of Wisconsin where he received his Master's Degree. Military Record: Served as a Major with the American Red Cross in France during World War I. Careers: Taught at the Rugby Academy in New Orleans; Taught Math, Spanish and Tactics at VMI 1908-09; in 1909 he went to Europe under the auspices of the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching and served as an exchange teacher in Prussia; taught Latin and German at Kirkwood High School in Mo. 1910-11; taught German at VMI in 1911; after World War I was enganged in several business ventures before returning to VMI in 1925. He became Head of the German Department at VMI in 1935. He retired in 1955. Died- Sept. 19, 1963 at his home in Lexington, Va. |
