Virginia Light Artillery; absent summer-fall 1861 on special duty with naval battery at Aquia Creek; transferred 1862 March 13 as Capt. to artillery company which served briefly as Co. F, 5th Alabama Battln and then became Co. M, 55th VA; praised for conduct in Seven Days' Battle; in hospital late summer 1862; resigned 1863 Feb 19.
