Civil War Service: Entered service 1861 April 23 as 1st Lt. of Capt. J. G. Pollock's Co. Virginia Light Artillery; absent summer-fall 1861 on special duty with naval battery at Aquia Creek; transferred 1862 March 13 as Capt. to artillery company which served briefly as Co. F, 5th Alabama Battln and then became Co. M, 55th VA; praised for conduct in Seven Days' Battle; in hospital late summer 1862; resigned 1863 Feb 19. Careers: Civil and mining engineer; worked throughout the country, incl. Boston, NYC, Washington DC, Alabama, California. Marriage: Wife & daughter (names not known) died sometime before 1912. Died: April 24, 1912 at home of H.L. Clore, near Chancellorsville; buried Fredericksburg City Cemetery.|
