Civil War Record: Enlisted Aug. 18, 1862 at Clinton, Ms. in Co. C 16th Missouri Regiment; Elected 2nd Lieut. Aug 1, 1863; Mentioned as Lieut. Aide-de-Camp to Col. S. P. Burns, commanding 2nd Missouri Brigade, Brig. Gen. M. M. Parson's division on April 30, 1863; Paroled at Shreveport, Louisana on June 7, 1865 as 2nd Lieut. of 16th Missouri. Careers: Teacher; public official; Brig. Gen. in Arkansas National Guard after the War;represented Franklin and Crawford counties in Arkansas Senate 1876-80; Arkansas Secretary of State 1893-97; Appointed clerk and commissioner, US District Court; Democrat. Died- Feb. 7, 1914 in Charleston, Ar.
