Military Record: Entered service for war on July 11, 1861 in Washington County, Alabama as a Captain with Company E, 11th Alabama; appointed Major Apr. 29, 1863 (Date of Rank Sep. 11, 1862); Wounded in Action at Gettysburg (lost right leg); applied in the Spring of 1864 for post duty at Staunton; found unfit for field duty by medical board in August, 1864; retired to Invalid Corps on Sep. 17, 1864 Post War Career: Teacher. Died- ca. 1895 in California.|
