Sept. 27, 1861; ordered to report to Government of Fla. Nov. 13, 1861; Assigned to temporary duty as Assistant Adjutant General for the Dept. of Middle and Eastern Fla. April, 1862; Appointed Major, Adjutant General Dept. July 14, 1862 and joined staff of then Maj. Gen. Thomas J. "Stonewall" Jackson; Assigned to staff of Maj. Gen. G. W.
