Biography & Genealogy: | Junius Paul Clay, Class of 1856: Born- ca. 1835 in Campbell Co. Va. Father- Gen. Odin G. Clay; Mother- Ann Davies (Odin's cousin). Pat. Grandfather- Rev. Charles Clay; Pat. Grandmother- Editha Davies. Mat. Grandfather- Samuel Boyle Davies; Mat. Grandmother- Elizabeth McCulloch. Never married, no children. Entered VMI- July 28, 1852; Resigned Sept. 30, 1852 after being reprimanded for gross neglect of duties and studies. Civil War Service- Private in Co A. (some sources say Co. K) 2nd Va. Cavalry. He was absent on sick leave often throughout 1862-64 and was hospitalized in 1863 with chronic Rheumatism, but there are no records as to whether this was troubling him while he was at VMI. Career- Farmer. Died- June 28, 1879 in Bedford Co. Va. |
