Brooklyn Navy Yard. Paternal grandfather: John Thomas Blackmore of New Forest, Devonshire, England. Paternal grandmother: Mary Patience Maternal grandfather: Dr. Charles Fleury Guillou, Philiadelphia, PA, a sugeon in the U.S. Navy. Maternal grandmother: Dinah Clarke Postlethwaite, Natchez, Mississippi. Residence of parents at time Philip entered VMI: 624 Bridge St., Hampton, VA. VMI Record: Entered September 1908 and graduated June 1911. Career: Army officer. Retired with rank of Brigadier General in 1950. Marriage: Wife: Emily Van Patten.
