VMI Record: Entered VMI- Aug. 6, 1852; Resigned Jan. 4, 1853. Civil War Record: Enlisted June 16, 1861 at Glebe School and was commissioned 1st Lieut. July 1, 1861; Assigned to Co. G of the 41st Va. Infantry July 12, 1861; his company became Co. I of the 61st Va. Infantry in April, 1862; Commissioned 2nd Lieut. for the 62nd Ga. Cavalry (Partisan Rangers) on Aug. 1, 1862; Absent sick late 1863-early 1864; promoted to 1st Lieut. on return; his unit became part of Co. E of the 8th Confederate States Cavalry in early 1864 and in April 1864 became part of Co. K of the 24th Va. Cavalry; unofficial source says he was captured and died in prison. Died- July 3, 1864. |
