Father- John Taylor Bradford, Tallahassee, FL; Mother- Ida Henley Brooks of Marion, Alabama; Paternal grandparents- John Richard Bradford (Florida) and Nancy Taylor (North Carolina); Maternal grandparents- William Brooks (South Carolina) and Anne E. Terrell (Alabama). Brother of William B. Bradford, VMI Class of 1916; sisters' names Irita and Margaret. Education/VMI Record: Before entering VMI he was a student at the Fishburne Military Academy in Waynesboro, VA (a military high school). Entered VMI in the fall of 1914 and his degree was granted in 1918, on the basis of work completed before he left VMI early (resigned December 27, 1917) to enlist in the Army. Military record (World War I): Enlisted as private; in April 1918 transferred to Love Field, Dallas, Texas for flight training and graduated as a pilot with a commission as 2nd Lieut; subsequently assigned to Langley Field, Hampton, Virginia where he was involved in training aerial photographers and aerial mapping; discharged October 15, 1919. Marriage: Daisy Bullard, November 30, 1918 at the bride's home in Tampa, FL; they had two children. Career: banking; automobile business. Death: October 1, 1926 near Tampa, Florida, in a car accident. |
