Florence Vandeventer, who married R.L. Vandeventer; 3- Rosa B. Marks, married, but husband's name unknown.. Entered VMI- Aug. 2, 1850; Graduated July 4, 1854 standing 12 in a class of 14. Civil War Service- Enlisted Apr. 20, 1861 in Co. F of the 5th Va. Cavalry; Unit attachted to 4th NC Regiment and ten assigned to the 16th Va. Cavalry Battalion which later became the 13th Va. Cavalry; Appointed 1st Lieut. July 1, 1861; Elected Captain April 29, 1862; On detached service much of 1862-63; Wounded in Action June 9, 1863 at Beverly's Ford; Retired by Medical Board July 19, 1864; Assigned to duty with commandant of conscripts for Va. July 22, 1864; Re-examined by Medical Board and Honorably retired Jan. 1865. Careers- Farmer; Merchant; Salesman. Moved from Petersburg to Richmond, Va. in 1876. Died- June 4, 1895.|
