|Name:||Samuel S. Malcolm|
|Affiliation:||Class of 1854|
|Biography & Genealogy:||Samuel S. Malcolm, Class of 1854: Born- ca. 1827 in Charleston, Va. (now W.Va.) Father- Andrew Malcolm; Mother- Priscella Sample. No information on grandparents. Entered VMI- Aug. 30, 1850; Resigned ca. 1852 (Deficient in Math). Moved to Missouri ca. 1857-58. Unofficial source says that he was a Captain with the U.S. Army in one of the Missouri Regiments during the Civil War, but there is no official record of him having served during that War. The last he was heard from was in 1884. There was mention of him possibly going to see his uncle William Malcolm of Pasadena, CA written in a letter to his cousin Mrs. Mary Hardway. Mrs. Hardway did not hear from either William or Samuel after that letter, though she wrote to them several times. So Samuel had either changed locations without notifying his cousin, or he died ca. 1884. There is no record of his exact date of death, nor if he was ever married or had any children.|
