Biography & Genealogy: | Walter Scott Hancock (b. 1869 - d. 1959) was the son of Col. Abram Booth Hancock and Martha Elizabeth Walker of Franklin County, Virginia. He graduated from VMI in 1890 and subsequently received a law degree from the University of Virginia. He settled in St. Louis Missouri, where he practiced law for decades. He died there in 1959. Hancock married Anna Spencer in 1899; they had five children. Among them was a son, Walker Kirtland Hancock, who was a notable American sculptor and one of the famed Monuments Men during World War II. Walker attended a Students' Army Training Corps camp held at VMI in 1918. |
