Military Record: With Corps in Richmond trenches until it disbanded April 2, 1865. Post War Career: Farmer; lawyer; public official. At UVa 1868-1870. Democrat. Commonwealth's attorney, Richmond County. Represented 1st District of Va in US House of Representatives 1891-1917. (Major work was 1916 bill for eventual independence of the Philippines.) Episcipol. Died- April 17, 1918. Buried St. John's Episcopol Church, Warsaw, Va.
