|Biography & Genealogy:||Johnson Junius Ward, Class of 1868: Born- September 14, 1847. Matriculated from Scott County, Kentucky. At VMI 6 months. Military Record: Unofficial source says in army before VMI. May have been the "J.W. Johnson" whose only record shows he served in early 1863 as Private, Company C, Lt Col G.M. Jessee's Kentucky Cavalry Battalion (unit became 6th CS Battalion). At VMI October 1864-April 1865. With Corps in Richmond trenches until it disbanded April 2, 1865. Post War Career: Married Fannie Winter Willis 1881. Civil engineer; miner; cotton planter. Son of G.W. Johnson of Kentucky, CS governor of Kentucky. Died- March 16, 1919 by tornado at Panther Burn, Ms.|
