|Biography & Genealogy:||Colin Neblett, Class of 1852: Born- Aug. 3, 1832 near Brickland Lunenburg Co. Va. Father- Dr. Sterling Neblett, Jr.; Mother- Ann S. McFarland. Pat. Grandfather- Sterling Neblett; Pat. Grandmother- Mary Chappell. Mat. Grandfather- James McFarland; Mat. Grandmother- Elizabeth Smith. Married- Victoria C. Garland of Milton, N.C. on Oct. 24, 1855. Children- 1- Isabella Glenn Neblett; 2- Annie McFarland Neblett; 3- James Hamilton Neblett; 4- John Tabb Neblett. Entered VMI- July 2, 1848; Resignation accepted Dec. 14, 1848 after receiving excess demerits. Later attended William & Mary College and graduated in Law at the University of Va. Bought "Green Oak" in Lunenburg Co. and moved there in 1854. Civil War Service- Enlisted May 20, 1861 as 1st Lt. of Co. C in the 20th Va. Infantry, C.S.A.; Discharged Jun. 26, 1861 because of ill health. Career- Farmer and Lawyer. Died- Feb. 5, 1908.|
