Father- Samuel Davis Wood; Mother- Panthea Anderson Davis. Pat. Grandfather- Thomas Wood; Pat. Grandmother- Sarah Anderson Davis. Mat. Grandfather- Henry Davis; Mat. Grandmother- Eliza (maiden name unknown). Married- Nannie Anderson on Nov. 1, 1865. Children- 1- Georgiana Wood, who married C. H. Marks; 2- Emma Wood, who married James Wright; 3- Clara Wood, who married Samuel Noel; 4- Alva B. Wood, who married Dora Robinson; 5- Ashby Wood, who married Willie Deisher; 6- Henry Wood, who married Mamie Simpson. VMI Record: Entered VMI- Sept. 2, 1862; resigned sometime after 1864; Made Honorary Graduate of the Class of 1867 on July 4, 1869. Civil War Record: Private in Co. A of the Corps of Cadets in the Battle of New Market, May 15, 1864; served with the Corps of Cadets in the trenches at Richmond until he resigned. Unofficial source states that served as a forage master for the Confederate States Cavalry in western, Va. but this would have been before he entered VMI. Careers: Farmer near Baldwin, Va. Died- Feb. 13, 1879 near Baldwin.|
