|Biography & Genealogy:||Henry Thomas Stack, Class of 1867: Born- June 3, 1845. Matriculated from Covington, Va. At VMI 2 1/2 months. Military Record: At VMI August 3-November 1863. Enlisted Dcember 15, 1863 (some records give other dates) at Union (WV) for 3 years as Pvt, Capt T.A. Bryan's Company Virginia Light Artillery (Monroe Artillery). Disabled at unknown date for unknown reason and detached March 3, 1864 to Signal Corps, Army of West Virginia and Eastern Tennessee. Stationed at Wytheville late 1864-early 1865. Post War Career: At Georgetown College (now University) 1866-72. Entered Society of Jesus 1868. At Woodstock College (Maryland) 1872-75, 1878-82. Professor of Chemistry and Math, Holy Cross College (Massachusetts) 1876-77. Ordained 1882. Professor of Physics and Chemistry, Boston College (Massachusetts) 1882-83, 1886-87 (and also of Christian Doctrine). Professor of Physics, Georgetown College 1884-85. Named President of Boston College August 5, 1887. Died- August 30, 1887. Boston, Mass. Buried Jesuit Cemtery, Holy Cross College.|
