|Biography & Genealogy:||Noah Scales, Class of 1867 Born- ca. 1846 (had a twin brother named Nathan who served in the Civil War but did not attend VMI) Father- Absalom Scales; Mother- Eliza Carter. No information on grandparents. Married, wife's name unknown (he married a Catholic woman was disowned by his family because of it) No information on whether or not he had any children. Entered VMI- Jan. 26, 1863; Dismissed Sept. 12, 1863 "drummed out" of the Corps of Cadets (I checked the Order books for that time period, but could not find the exact reason why he was kicked out). Civil War Service- Served in Co. H of the 42nd Va. Regt. from 1861-62, but was discharged for being under age. May have served in the 34th Va. Cavalry ca. 1864, but no official records are found on the matter. Moved to Mexico after marrying a woman his family did not approve of. Date of Death unknown.|
