Married- Laura Thomas; 1st child- James Thomas Rutherfoord; 2nd child- Laura Rutherfoord; 3rd child- Gwendolyn Rutherfoord. Matriculated from Mattoax, Va. At VMI 11 months over 2 years. Military Record: Enlisted June 28, 1863 at Richmond for 6 months as Private, Company G, 3rd Virginia Local Defense Troops. Present for duty on December 28, 1863 roll. Entered VMI January 29, 1864. Private, Company C at New Market. With Corps in Richmond trenches until resigning March 30, 1865. Joined Company G (probably 3rd Va Local Defense Troops). Because of youth detailed as courier, Headquarters, II Corps, Army of Northern Virginia. Paroled as such at Appomattox. Post War Career: At UVa 1865-66. Married Laura Thomas 1872. Tobacconist; capitalist. Died- April 2, 1914 in Richmond. Buried in Hollywood Cemetery.|
