Genealogy: Born June 10, 1845, Greensville County, near Jarretts Depot, Virginia; Father- Richard G. Grigg; Mother- Louisa [surname unknown]; no information about grandparents. VMI Record: Entered VMI on December 15, 1862 and resigned January 29, 1864 to join the Confederate Army. Military Service: Enlisted on March 1, 1864 at Sussex Court House as a Private, Company H., 13th Virginia Cavalry Regiment; Captured December 10 or 11, 1864 along the Weldon Railroad and held at Point Lookout, Maryland; exchanged February 18, 1865; died at home of disease contracted while a prisoner of war, on March 8, 1865.
