Biography & Genealogy:	John Samuel Ervin, Class of 1867: Born- Apr. 19, 1845. Matriculated from Warm Springs, VA. At VMI 8 months over 2 years. Military Record: enlisted Mar. 15, 1864 at Williamsburg for war as a Private, Company G, 18th Virginia Cavalry; present for duty on roll for Sep-Oct 1864; unofficial source says he served as an orderly sergeant during that time. Post War Career: Farmer. Died- July 7, 1903 near Fort Lews in Bath County, VA. Brother of Ervin WD, VMI Class of 1854.
