Military Record: Enlisted May 10, 1861 at Goochland Courthouse for 1 year in Company F, 4th Virginia Cavalry; promoted to 2d Lieutenant on June 2, 1861; promoted to 1st Lieutenant Sep. 11, 1861; elected 2d Lieutenant (after reorganization) on Apr. 25, 1862; in hospital in Huguenot Springs from January to February 1865; signed parole April 23, 1865 at Manchester, VA. Post War Career: planter; had a reputation as a superb horseman. Died- October, 1882 in Augusta County, VA.
