Hughes Dillard; Mother- Martha Ann Dillard. Pat. Grandfather- General John Dillard; Pat. Grandmother- Matilda Hughes. Mat. Grandfather- Col. Peter Dillard; Mat. Grandmother- Betsy Redd. Married- Lucy Dillard Spencer, on July 2, 1872. Children- Harrison Spencer Dillard. Matriculated to VMI from Rocky Mount, VA. At VMI 1 year, 5 months. Military Record: entered VMI on May 3, 1864 as a Private in Company B, New Market Corps, although his name is not on the roster of those in campaign; resigned from VMI on Mar. 6, 1865, to join the army; no further records found. Post War Career: At University of Virginia 1866-67; elected Commonwealth's Attorney in 1874; judge (Henry County). Died- March 16, 1875 in Orlando, Florida; buried at Marrowborne, Va.
